Siifsiin was launched in 2013 and has been the flagship of Ayaana Publishing ever since. The magazine comes out every other month with a print run of 20,000 copies and is being distributed freely.
Siifsiin was launched in 2013 as a contextualised approach to provide Oromos regularly with with literature in their mother tongue. The magazine comes out every other month with a print run of 20,000 copies and is being distributed for free.
Although Oromo is being taught as first language across the vast Oromo region of Ethiopia not much is currently being published in this language. Due to its wide circulation, Siifsiin is a great tool to promote reading and writing. The magazine features poetry, short fiction stories, oral tradition and educational articles on agriculture, health, hygiene, history and more. Many writers who volunteer for the magazine and NGOs which publish educational content make this magazine a unprecedented contribution to Oromo literature.
Currently five international NGOs are publishing content in the magazine on a regular basis. If you want to reach people across Ethiopia with your own content, Siifsiin is a great tool for you.
